Abstract: ESTIMATES OF ERRORS IN THE PUBLISHED CAUSE-OF-DEATH STATISTICS ARE NEEDED BY DATA USERS IN INTERPRETING THE DATA AND BY NCHS IN DESIGNING PROGRAMS TO REDUCE THE ERRORS. THE PILOT STUDY WILL DEVELOP AND TEST THE METHODS FOR CONDUCTING A NATIONAL STUDY OF THE ERRORS IN CAUSE-0F DEATH STATISTICS.
