Terms of Clearance: In previous terms of clearance for the EEO-1 (3/30/85, 3/13/84, and 11/5/82), we have asked EEOC to provide us with an assessment of alternative reporting procedures and frequencies to the current annual report as a basis for initiating actions to improve the effectiveness and lessen the burden of the collection. Although the EEOC has been studying several options to the current annual report, including a biennial reporting system and various sampling procedures, the agency has made little progress in changing the frequency. Thus, pursuant to OMB's authority under 5 CFR 1320.14(f) and (g), we direct EEOC to initiate rulemaking by March 1, 1986, to implement an agreed-upon reporting procedure in time for the 1987 collection cycle. The EEO-1 is approved through May 1986, to enable EEOC to collect data for the 1986 cycle and to respond to these terms of clearance.

DATA ARE SHARED WITH SEVERAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, PARTICULARLY THE OFFICE OF FEDERAL CONTRA COMPLIANCE PROGRAMS, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR. UNDER SECTION 709(D) O TITLE VII, DATA ARE ALSO SHARED WITH APPROXIMATELY 43 STATE AND LOCAL FEPC AGENCIES.
