Terms of Clearance: OMB approves this information collection, but requests that EPA review this and other requests for data authorized by Section 114 of the Clea Air Act for use in developing regulations. We are particularly concerned that: (1) adequate data could be collected with a smaller sample, (2) the survey may be unnecessarily lengthly, (3) due to the nature and wording of the questins, inaccurate or inconsistent answers will be received, (4) the economic and cost questions may be beyond th knowledge of the corporate employee likely to be assigned to respond. We have reviewed several Section 114 surveys in recent months, and we believe the problems may be common to many of them. EPA should initiate a review to determine how to improve the quality of future surveys.

Abstract: THE PURPOSE OF THIS ICR IS TO GATHER DATA ON SMALL INDUSTRIAL-COMMERCIAL-INSTITUTIONAL BOILERS WITH HEAT INPUT CAPACITIES OF 100 MM BUT/HR OR LESS. THIS DATA WILL BE USED TO ANALYZE AND EVALUATE VARIOUS CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES, REGULATORY OPTIONS, COSTS, AND ECONOMIC, ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMIPACTS FOR REGULATORY DEVELOPMENT.
