This request for
OMB approval is granted through 12/31/86 to authorize the ICC's
uniform accounting format for collecting trucking data through the
end of the 1986 calendar year. If the Commission wishes to continue
these requirements beyond then, it must revise and resubmi this
request. Any such request must explain (1) why the Commission
cannot meet its statutory responsibilities with drastically reduced
data requirements, and (2) why the ICC should be requiring
extensive cost-based trucking reports at all, when prices are set
competitively independent of costs.
