OMB is approving
the plan to conduct additional household surveys of chemical
product usage. Howver, the practical utility of the survey greatly
depends on the chemical product itself. Several of the candidates
listed on page five of the ICR seem without merit. As a result, no
burden hour clearance is being given at this time, only the
approval of the plan. For individual surveys (like air fresheners,
toilet bowl cakes, and mothballs), EPA must submit an amendment to
this plan which justifies the need for the survey with an estimate
of the respondant burden. In this way, the real burden of each
survey can be accounted for accurately. This plan is approved for
three years during which amendments will be considered by OMB.
