This approval consolidates several plan approval requirements in Title 46, Subchapters D, H, I, I-A, R, U and J under OMB #2215-0505 which were formerly approved under OMB number 2115-0l30, 0131 and 0115. The collection under 2115-0131 was approved in 7/87, through 12/88, to permit the Coast Guard to complete its consolidation of posting requirements to reduce burden and improve the effectiveness of posting. The Coast Guard was also directed to identify and estimate recordkeeping burdens associated with that collection. The approval of these consolidated collection of plan approval requirements for one year will allow further time to complete the consolidation of posting requirements. OMB requests that by 4/31/89, the Coast Guard also provide documentation of subchapter H, R, and U reporting and recordkeeping requirements and verify that recordkeeping requirements for all subchapters are adequately reflected in the burden estimates.
