Approved through
February 1990. The explanation given for not modifying the
information collection at 27 CFR 194.151 (b) is unconvincing. The
Department has indicated that permission will be given in response
to written requests to maintain certain records at the place of
business in lieu of transmitting them to BATF. BATF should: 1)
indicate in the instructions on the form the option of maintaining
records at the place of business and 2) initiate changes in the
information collections contained in the regulations to drop the
reporting requirement in preparation for extension of this
clearance beyond February 1990.
