Abstract: THE SURVEY IS NEEDED TO COLLECT DATA ON U.S. DIRECT INVESTMENT ABROAD TO BE USED IN THE FORMULATION OF GOVERNMENT POLICY AND WILL SERVE AS A BASE FROM WHICH BALANCE OF PAYMENTS AND FINANCIAL AND OPERATING DATA COLLECTED IN SAMPLE SURVEYS CAN BE EXPANDED TO UNIVERSE ESTIMATES.
