Abstract: CONGRESS REQUIRES THE SECRETARY OR TRANSPORTATION (U.S. COAST GUARD) TO APPROVE THE LOCATION AND PLANS OF BRIDGES ACROSS THE NAVIGABLE WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES. THE PROSPECTIVE BRIDGE BUILDER MUST MAKE A WRITTEN REQUEST TO THE COAST GUARD FOR SUCH AN APPROVAL.
