This ICR is
approved for 214,751 burden hours associated with monitoring under
the Phase II rule. Since EPA has withdrawn barium, aldicarb,
aldicarb sulfone, aldicarb sulfoxide, and pentachlorophenol from
the final Phase II rule, the burden associated with the monitoring
of these contaminants is not included in this ICR. The 4,398 annual
burden hours for monitoring barium has been subtracted from the
total estimated burden. EPA has estimated that monitoring for
aldicarb and pentachlorophenol will have a negligible effect on the
annual burden currently associated with pesticide monitoring. EPA
must submit a new ICR if any contaminants not included in the
current Phase II rule are added to the Phase II rule at a future
date. In addition, when this ICR is renewed, EPA should subtract
out the one-time burden that is included for the monitoring of
unregulated contaminants. This ICR is approved until 12/93 when the
base ICR expires.
