amended by ED's memoranda to OMB of 3/2/92, 3/11/92, 3/27/92, and
3/31/92. ED has agreed to meet the following conditions: -- ED
shall field test two levels of reimbursement for student
participation in the GRE component of the1993 NPSAS -- a $20 level,
an a $35 level. These payments shall be made in the form of
reimbursemen for costs incurred, and not in the form of incentives
to take the test -- Students who report prior scores to ED shall be
reimbursed for the cost of their prior score report, similar to ED
payment of the GRE registration fee for those who take the test
during the survey period. -- Students shall be informed that they
may report scores solely to th GRE contractor, and that scores will
not appear on any permanent GRE record unless students indicate
otherwise. -- ED will track information on the proportion of
students who cancel their scores, and on the proportion who must
miss work to take the tes -- ED shall develop a set of assurances
protecting schools from any costs associated with use of ED NPSAS
software, such as viruses or system breakdowns. ED will submit
these assurances to OMB prior to us -- No data shall be reported
separately about any stratum in NPSAS unless response rates for
that stratum are at least 80 percent. -- ED shall not collect the
same information from more than one source unless the field test
shows differences in responses between s

THIS STUDY WILL COLLECT DATA FROM A
SAMPLE OF STUDENTS IN POSTSECONDAR INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING
INSTITUTION FINANCIAL AID DATA ON SAMPLED STUDENTS, AND A SAMPLE OF
STUDENTS' PARENTS. IT WILL COLLECT DATA TO DETERMINE HOW STUDENTS
AND FAMILIES FINANCE POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION, ADDRESSING IMPORTANT
ISSUES IN THIS AREA. THIS COLLECTION IS FOR INSTITUTIONAL, STUDENT,
AND PARENT DATA.
