Abstract: THE HATE CRIME STATISTICS ACT, PASSED BY THE U.S. CONGRESS AND SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT IN APRIL 1990, MANDATED A 5-YEAR DATA COLLECTION OF CRIMES MOTIVATED BY RELIGIOUS, ETHNIC, RACIAL, OR SEXUAL-ORIENTATION PREJUDICE.
