Terms of Clearance: Approved as amended by ED's memoranda to OMB of 9/25/92, 10/4/92, and 10/14/92. Approval is conditional on the need for ED to make any appropriate revisions prior to the close of the public comment period, 10/21. In addition, Qs. 45b, 45e, and 46 will become part of the Federal core data elements beginning next year (for the 1994-95 FAFSA) ED will revise the entire application system for the next FAFSA, to make the FAFSA and SAR more complimentary and easy to use; ED has agreed to inform OMB of these revisions as they are planned, prior to the next PRA submission. Last, ED shall revise the burden disclosu statement in the instructions, to note that comments on this form shou be sent to OMB and ED, rather than OMB or ED, to conform with the PRA' implementing regulations.

Abstract: THE INFORMATION IS USED TO CALCULATE THE PELL GRANT INDEX (PGI) FOR TH DISTRIBUTION OF PELL GRANTS AND THE FAMILY CONTRIBUTION (FC) USED BY FINANCIAL AID ADMINISTRATORS TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF A STUDENT'S SE COLLEGE WORK-STUDY, PERKINS LOAN, AND STAFFORD LOAN. THE PGI IS GOVERNED BY SECTION 411, AND THE FC BY PART F OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION ACT OF 1965, AS AMENDED.
