Terms of Clearance: This information collection request (ICR) is approved for three years. OIRA commends the Agency for undertaking a substantial effort to revise this ICR's burden estimate. The Agency's revised burden estimates more closely resemble those provided by the public. However, the Agency did not include within its burden estimate the many data collection activities (e.g., to fulfill inspection and training certification requirements and to gather information for a plan or report) necessary to complete the reporting requirements in this ICR. Before submission of this ICR for renewal, EPA shall revise its burden estimates to include these activities in accordance with OMB regulation and guidance.

Abstract: OWNERS/OPERATORS OF HAZARDOUS WASTE TREATMENT, STORAGE AND DISPOSAL FACILITIES ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN RECORDS ON TYPES OF WASTES TREATED, WASTES DISPOSED OF, OPERATING METHODS, LOCATION, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION OF FACILITIES, CONTINGENCY PLANS, AND MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF FACILITIES. EPA USES THIS INFORMATION TO ENSURE THAT FACILITIES ARE PROPERLY HANDLING AND CARING FOR HAZARDOUS WASTES.
