Approved on the condition that DOL revise its Cargo Gear regulations as soon as possible following publication of final rules for the Longshoring Industry, scheduled for the end of 1995. At that time, DOL has agreed to implement recommendations to revise and streamline the Cargo rules. Upon publication of revised regulations, DOL will revise this collection as required by the PRA.

OSHA needs this information to accredit companies to inspect and provide certification for cranes, derricks, and accessory gear used in the lonshoring, marine terminal and shipyard industries. Use of the OSHA Forms 70, 71, 72 has proven successful, and their use has served as an aid to the agency and the industry in tracking conditions germane to safety.
