This technical release alerts the public to amendments to Title I of ERISA which, among other things, require that advance notification be provided to the Secretaries of Labor and the Treasury, as well as other persons, of an intended transfer of excess pension assets from a defined benefit plan to a retiree health benefit account, described in section 401(h) of the Internal Revenue Code, which is part of such a plan.
