Abstract: VA has responsibility for determining the compliance status of proprietary education institutions receiving Federal financial assistance under title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin and title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex. VA form 27-4274 is one of the tools used to determine a proprietary educational institution's compliance under title VI and title IX.
