Abstract: The NSF study of the public understanding of and attitudes toward science and technology has been conducted biennially since 1972. The proposed 1997 study will interview 2,000 adults by telephone using a national sample of households with a telephone. The results will be reported in the National Science Board's Science and Engineering Indicators.
