authorized to collect information under OMB ICR 1905-0129 for 11
months. EIA is consulting with electric utilities and oth- er
respondents, if any, in reviewing its current approach to the
protection of the confidentiality of information covered by this
information collection. In addition, EIA is investigating the
extent to which the data covered by this information collection
request is also publicly available from State governments. EIA will
report the findings of these reviews to OMB in submitting an
information collection request for renewal.

The Electric Power Surveys collect
information on electric power capacity, generation, fuel
consumption, fuel receipts, fuel stocks, prices electric rates,
construction costs, and operating income and revenue. Form EIA-417R
collects data on electric power distrubances. Respondents include
electric utilities, nonutility electric power producers, electric
reliability council members, and independent electric power system
operators. Electric power data collected are used by the Department
of Energy for analysis and forecasting. Data are published in
various EIA reports.
