The timeliness of the reporting of
nationally notifiable diseases for publication in the MMWR provides
information which CDC and State epidemiologists use to detect and
more effectively interrupt outbreaks. Reporting provides the
information needed to measure and demonstrate the impact of
interventions (e.g., changes in immunization laws or new
therapies). The data are widely used by public health professionals
concerned with the trends of reportable conditions in the
U.S.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
