Approved
consistent with DOL changes described in memos of 9-24-98 and
9-29-98. In light of public comments received and subsequent
revisions made by DOL to its initial estimate for a downward
adjustment in burden hours (to 21,140), the burden for this
collection as approved by OMB has increased substantially (to
457,215) from the current inventory (183,333). The amount approved
reflects more accurate calculations. Because the upcoming PPE
rulemaking may raise other issues relative to the existing PPE
rule, an 18 month clearance is granted. In future submissions of
this collection (and other collections involving significant
burden)DOL will provide greater justifications for the assumptions
that underly the burden estimates.
