FERC-549B capacity information is required by the Commission to monitor interstate pipeline's capacity release and other capacity programs to prevent abuses in the competitive environment established by the Commission to allow firm shippers to release unneeded capacity to other shippers needing that capacity. The Commission is proposing certain revisions to its regulations in Docket No. RM98-10-000, NOPR issued July 29, 1998, that would improve existing capacity procedures (part, 161, 250, and 284 of the Commission's regulations).
