Abstract: Insurance companies and rental/leasing companies are required annually to provide information to the Secretary of Transportation (NHTSA). The purpose of part 544 is to reduce comprehensive insurance premiums charged by insurers of motor vehicles due to vehicle thefts and distribution of stolen vehicle parts.
