We are publishing a proposed rule
(97-079-1) that would allow, under certain conditions, the
importation of all types of pork from the Mexican States of Yucatan
and Sonora. We have determined that pork form these two Mexican
States (imported according to the requirements described in our
proposed rule) would pose a negligible risk of introducing hog
cholera into the United States. This proposed rule would therefore
remove certain restrictions that no longer appear necessary on the
importation of pork from Yucatan and Sonora.
