Approved. This
submission was for the child supplement to NAWS rather than for
NAWS itself. Therefore the expiration date is maintained at the
current date for NAWS. The child supplement is approved with the
following conditions: 1. The compensation ($10) is given at the
beginning of the interview rather than its conclusion. 2. The
consent form is modified to reflect the increased time necessary
for the supplement. The revised form will be submitted to OMB. 3.
The choices to question ED13 are eliminated leaving it as an open
ended question. 4. The responses f and g to question ED 14 are
modified to read literacy training and parenting training
respectively. 5. Other changes described in DOL memo of 5-26-99 are
adopted.

The NAWS provides data to public and
private service programs and data analysis which are used for the
planning, implementing, and evaluating of farmworker programs.
Analysis provides an understanding of the manpower resources
available to the U.S. agriculture and the importance of immigrants
in the labor market. It is the only national source of data on the
demographic and employment characteristics of farmworkers.
