Abstract: The Federal Reserve requires these applications and notifications for regulatory and supervisory purposes and to allow the Federal Reserve to fulfill its statutory obligations under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956. These applications collect information concerning proposed bank holding company formations, acquisitions, and nonbanking activities, as well as bank and bank holding company mergers for review by the Federal Reserve.
