FERC-577 information is required by
the Commission to ensure compliance with the regulations under the
National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The data are used
by the Commission to examine the potential effects of proposed
interstate natural gas pipeline construction project on soils,
geology, water, land use, recreation, aesthetics, air and noise
quality, vegetation, wildlife, cultural resources, and pipeline and
LNG safety. FERC-577 reflects the changes in the Commission's
regulations as adopted in Docket No. RM98-16-000.
