This collection
is approved for one year on the following conditions. It is
critical that CDC work to increase the response rate to the
greatest extent possible. CDC shall take extra steps to do so and
shall describe the results at the time of the next clearance. In
addition, CDC shall evaluate whether the additional questions added
to the collection instrument have any effect on the response rates.
CDC shall report that assessment at the time of the next
approval.

The Supplement to HIV/AIDS
Surveillance (SHAS) project interviews HIV-infected persons on
their socio-demographics, sexual/drug using behaviors, reasons for
and time of HIV testing, access to medical/social services,
access/adherence to therapy and disability. This information is
used by government at the local, state, and national level for
planning and evaluating prevention programs and allocating care and
service dollars.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that

1320.8(b)(3).
