This survey collects data on manufacturing, mining and electrical utility establishments' costs and expenditures for pollution prevention and treatment. The data are used by the Environmental Protection Agency to monitor the impact of environmental programs and to estimate cost projections for its regulatory impact analysis for proposed pollution regulations. The data will enable EPA to report to Congress on the cost of a clean environment.
