Pub. L. 100-710 requires SECDOT to
establish a nationwide vessel identification system (VIS). VIS will
provide participating States and Territories with access to state
numbered vessel data. States and Territories will voluntarily
provide the data. The boating public and law enforcement will be
the primary beneficiaries.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
