NAREL's efforts to make data from ERAMS available to t he public
and other agencies in a standard electronic format suit able for
quantitative data analysis and manipulation. Future sub missions of
this request should include 1) an update on progress 2) a copy of
the latest quarterly report, and 3) a summary of the results of
NAREL's latest survey of its respondents

The objectives of the Enviromental
Radiation Ambient Monitoring System (ERAMS) are to provide a means
of estimating ambient levels of radioactive pollutants in our
enviroment, to follow trends in environmental readiactivity levels,
and to detect and assess the impact of fallout and other intrusions
of radioactive materials. Data generated from EPA's ERAMS have been
and are being used to provide the information base for making
decisions necessary to ensure the protection of public health. The

actions are required in particular cases of radioactive release
