Terms of Clearance: ED has indicated in a memo dated 7/2/01 that the department will issue guidance to schools on what aggregate data must be reported in terms of race and ethnicity, by Fall 2001. If the department is not going to be able to issue guidance by the end of 2001, ED shall inform OMB as soon as possible, and develop a timeline with OMB that is acceptable to OMB. This collection will be eventually phased out as states obtain the necessary technology to utilize the necessary technology for the consolidated data collection approved under 1820-0644.
