The Deaths in Custody, 2001 series of collections will assess the number of inmate deaths that occur while in law enforcement custody. The series will provide the only source of this essential information at the national level. The data providers for this survey are confinement facilities usually operated by local law enforcement agencies, State prison administrators, and State juvenile correctional administrators.
