The Ports and Waterways Safety Act
authorize the CG to require movement and cargo status reports from
any vessel in the U.S. Information is required to enhance maritime
security, control vessel traffic, develop contingency plans and
enforce regulations Barge owners or operators may apply for a
deviation from the report requirements.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
