The information collected from the US
principal parties in interest (USPPI) or the authorized agent of
the USPPI or the foreign principal party in interest (FPPI) through
the Shipper's Export Declaration Program or the Automated Export
System Program is used to compile the official United States
government statistics on US exports or for use to detect and
prevent the export of high technology items or military goods to
unauthorized destinations or end users. The statistics along with
US import statistics are used to calculate the US trade balance, a
leading economic indicator and part of the GDP
compilation.
