The information collection provisions associated with the NPRM on worker exposure to hexavalent chromium are not approved at this time. DOL is examining public comment in response to this NPRM, including the paperwork requirements. The preamble to the final rule will address this issue as well as respond to any public comments received

The objective of the proposal and its information-collection requirements is to reduce the numbers of fatalities and illnesses occuring among employees exposed to CR(VI) in general industry, construction and shipyards sectors. This will be achieved by exposure assessment, respirators, providing employees with medical surveillance and training.
