Authorized under the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002, the School Survey on Crime and Safety: 2006 (SSOCS) is the only recurring federal survey which collects detailed information on crime and safety from the public school principals' per- spective. The survey collects information on frequency and types of crimes at schools and disciplinary actions; information about perceptions of disciplinary problems in school; and a description of school policies and programs concerning crime and safety.
