Authorized under the Education
Sciences Reform Act of 2002, the School Survey on Crime and Safety:
2006 (SSOCS) is the only recurring federal survey which collects
detailed information on crime and safety from the public school
principals' per- spective. The survey collects information on
frequency and types of crimes at schools and disciplinary actions;
information about perceptions of disciplinary problems in school;
and a description of school policies and programs concerning crime
and safety.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
