Request to collect data on close calls and near misses through voluntary reporting of such events to BTS. This data collection effort is in support of a five-year research/demonstration study aiming at improving rail safety by analyzing information on close calls an other unsafe events in the rail industry. This collection is necessary because information on close calls in not normally reported to the railroad carriers or the Federal Railroad Administration.
This is a new data collection to support a five-year research/demonstration study on voluntary reporting of close calls and near misses in the rail industy.
