Noxious weeds affect both crops and native plant species in the same way, by out-competing for light, water, and soil nutrients. Noxious weeds cause estimated crop losses of $2 to $3 billion, annually. These loses are attributed to decreased quality of agricultural products due to high levels of competition from noxious weeds and decreased quantity of agricultural products due to noxious weeds and decreased quantity of agricultural products due to noxious weed infestations.
