SUMMARY: In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this

request for comments announces that the Coast Guard is forwarding one

Information Collection Request (ICR),

abstracted below, to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs

(OIRA), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to request a

reinstatement of a previously-approved collection of information: 1625-

0087, U.S. Coast Guard International Ice Patrol (IIP) Customer Survey.

Our ICR describes the information we seek to collect from the public.

Review and comment by OIRA ensures that we impose only paperwork

burdens commensurate with our performance of duties.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Coast Guard invites comments on the

proposed collection of information to determine whether the collection

is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the

Department. In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments

addressing: (1) The practical utility of the collection; (2) the

accuracy of the estimated burden of the collection; (3) ways to enhance

the quality, utility, and clarity of the information that is the

subject of the collection; and (4) ways to minimize the burden of

collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection

techniques or other forms of information technology.

Comments to DMS or OIRA must contain the OMB Control Number of the

ICR. Comments to DMS must contain the docket number of this request,

[USCG 2006-24525]. For your comments to OIRA to be considered, it is

best if OIRA receives them on or before the August 21, 2006.

This request provides a 30-day comment period required by OIRA. The

Coast Guard has already published the 60-day notice (71 FR 23939, April

25, 2006) required by 44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2). That notice elicited no

comments.


Information Collection Request


Title: U.S. Coast Guard International Ice Patrol (IIP) Customer

Survey.

OMB Control Number: 1625-0087.

Type of Request: Reinstatement of a previously-approved collection.

Affected Public: Masters, crewmembers, scientists, government

employees, or other persons using International Ice Patrol products.

Forms: None.

Abstract: The International Ice Patrol monitors the extent of the

iceberg danger near the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and provides

iceberg warnings to the maritime community by broadcasting the

southeastern, southern, and southwestern limits of all known ice in two

message bulletins and one radiofacsimile chart each day. Customer

satisfaction surveys are required by Executive Order 12862 to evaluate

services and customer satisfaction.

Burden Estimate: The estimated burden has decreased from 125 hours

to 120 hours a year.
