SBA is piloting a small dollar loan program ("SBA Express"). SBA Express Lenders use primarily their own loan forms, submitting minimal information to SBA. SBA requires the information requested to assist the agency in carrying-out its lender, portfolio and program oversight responsibilities. The information will also facilitate risk management.
SBA's Office of Financial Assistance is implementing a new loan initiative, Patriot Express by the end of June 2007. Patriot Express will be incorporated in the SBA Express Information Collection under OMB Control Number 3245-0348. This loan initiative is an outgrowth of SBA's discussions with the Department of Defence, the military community and our lending partners. Through these discussions SBA has learned that military activations and extentions of tours are having a profound adverse impact on the entrepeneurial sector of the military community. SBA concluded that there is an urgent need for financial, technical and procurement assistance amoung this group. In order to carryout the Patriot Express loan intiative by the projected targeted data, SBA needs to have in place an approved loan application package.
