MSIX Data Quality Grant

Grant Summary and Description / “Letter of Applicants”:

The Department intends to award Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX) Data Quality Formula Grants in FY 2008 and subsequent years to each State Education Agency (SEA) that receives Title I, Part C State formula grant funds to support the interstate exchange of migrant student records as authorized in Section 1308(b) of ESEA We intend to establish this MSIX grants program through to-be-developed, non-codified Notices of proposed and final requirements that will establish the award formula and the purpose(s) for use of funds.

In order to receive funds under the absolute priority of this grant program, and in lieu of a formal application, SEAs will be required simply to submit a letter to the Department, signed by the Chief State School Officer or delegated official, requesting these funds and providing an assurance that the funds will be used by the SEA for the intended purposes.

At this time, we anticipate that the new MSIX grant funds would be used for any activities directly related to the support of interstate exchange of migrant records and the MSIX. More detailed examples of such activities will be specified in the to-be-developed Notice of final requirements.
