Abstract: The Migrant Information Exchange (MSIX) is a nationwide electronic records exchange mechanism mandated under Title I, Part C of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended. MSIX and its minimum data elements (MDEs) are authorized under ESEA section 1308(b). As a condition of receiving a grant of funds under Title I, Part C, each State educational agency (SEA) is required to collect, maintain, and submit minimum health and education-related data to MSIX within established timeframes. Regulations for the MSIX issued by the U.S. Department of Education (the Department) have been in effect since June 9, 2016 (34 C.F.R. §â€¯200.85). The Department is requesting approval to revise the information collection.
