NMFS Alaska Region provides free
logbooks for harvesters (daily fishing logbooks, or DFLs) and
processors (daily cumulative production logbooks, or DCPLs) to
record groundfish information. The longline or pot gear logbooks
for catcher vessels and catcher/processors also may be used to
record Pacific halibut and sablefish Individual Fishing Quota
information as well as crab rationalization program information.
This statement is a request for revision of this collection to
incorporate the increased use of electronic reporting systems which
gradually are replacing the use of paper logbooks and to note
certain forms that are removed due to replacement by electronic
systems.
PL:
Pub.L. 109 - 479 104 Name of Law: Magnuson-Stevens Fishery
Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2006
This revision introduces
electronic versions of the logbooks that will eventually replace
paper logbooks. The shoreside processor DCPL is removed as the
primary data collection format for groundfish and IFQ fisheries.
The mothership and catcher/processor DCPLs are now partially
completed in conjunction with eLandings. Mothership cumulative fish
tickets are removed from this collection, because eLandings creates
fish tickets as part of the normal procedure. The daily production
report and weekly production report are removed, because eLandings
also creates daily production reports as part of the normal
procedure. For only one IC has the burden increased, as some
vessels were shifted to that recordkeeping method.
