This increase in burden is to account for the revisions to 40 CFR part 53 made by the Revisions to Ambient Air Monitoring Regulations (Final Rule). Consistent with the final revisions to the NAAQS for particulate matter, the amendments added new requirements to the application requirements. The final amendments also added a new category of monitoring methods for which reference or equivalent method applications would be accepted and would likely increase the annualized number of applications received by the EPA.
