The Manufactured Housing Installation Program establishes regulations for the administration of an installation program and establishes a new manufactured housing installation program for States that choose not to implement their own programs. HUD uses the information collected for the enforcement of the Model Installation Standards in each State that does not have an installation program established by State law to ensure that the minimum criteria of an installation program are met.

This is a new collection to meet the statutory requirements created by the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000, which require HUD to develop and implement specific standards and regulations for the installation of manufactured homes that previously were left for State and Local authorities to implement. Upon implementation of the Model Installation Standards, home manufacturers will be responsible to review their installation instructions and make necessary conforming revisions. Upon implementation of the Installation Program, installers of manufactured homes will be required to obtain a license and complete training. In addition, manufacturers and retailers will be required to provide HUD with specific information regarding the homes that they sell and install.
