Provides state and national acreage,
yield, and production estimates for selected field crops. Weekly
crop progress and condition reports are provided during the growing
season. Production estimates are used in marketing decisions that
affect the nation's food supply.
This is a request for an
emergency approval of a revision to the NASS field crop production
docket. The Public Law version 6124 of the 2008 Farm Bill requires
NASS to add an additional data collection effort to our existing
program(s). For this approval request we are asking for two
significant changes. The first change is the addition of the six
rental questions to be added to the current County Estimates Survey
in each State (U.S. sample size of 400,000). The second change is
the addition of a new survey that contains only the six cash rental
questions (approximate sample size of 180,000). The samples were
drawn from operations that reported cash rental expenses and acres
rented on the 2007 Census of Agriculture.
