Change Request, Maple Syrup Survey, OMB No. 0535-0039
NASS is submitting this non-substantive change request for two changes to the Maple Syrup Survey, OMB Control Number 0535-0039. In the past we have asked the respondents to report maple syrup for grades A (light, medium and dark) and B (lower quality). This past year, some operators started reporting a Grade C (commercial) separately from the Grade B. In order to make sure that we are not missing any data, we feel it is necessary to clarify this in Question 7.d.
The second change involves the creation of a questionnaire that is written in both French and English. We have several operations that are located in Canada that purchase large amounts of maple sap from Maine. Some of our enumerators in Maine said that this would make it easier for some of the respondents they contact by phone.
There are no changes with the sample size, publicity materials, or respondent burden.
