Terms of Clearance: Prior to the commencement of the Annual Survey of Local Government Finances (School Systems) forms distribution, the Census Bureau shall provide on its Internet site prominent links to a set of finalized survey forms, including instructions and cover letters, comparable to those provided for the 2007 Economic Census report forms. The final forms, instructions, and letters shall reflect any changes in the survey year, OMB number expiration date, and Census leadership from those submitted for review.

Abstract: This survey collects finance data of public school systems. The data are used to calculate the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), to monitor the government sector of the economy, and to formulate, develop, and review public policy. Federal agencies, state and local governments, and the private sector use these data. The government finance data for the public school systems are disseminated by the Census Bureau, and the education data are disseminated by the National Center for Education Statistics because this collection serves as the only source of nationwide fiscal data for public school systems.
