The Federal Railroad Administration
uses this information to establish standards and procedures for
State participation in investigative and surveillance activities
under the Federal safety laws and regulations.
The burden has decreased by a
total of 1,127 hours from the last submission. The decrease is the
result of adjustments (both increases and decreases) based on data
receive over the last three years received by FRA/the program
expert responsible for the State Safety Particiaption Program.
Total overall increases from adjusted estimates amounted to 616
hours. Total overall decreases from adjusted estimates amounted to
1,743 hours. [Please see the attached Supporting Justification for
the itemized breakdown of increases and decreases.] The current OMB
inventory exhibits a total of 11,875 hours, while the present
submission amounts to a total of 10,748 hours. Hence, there is a
decrease of 1,127 hours. ***Although there is actually no change in
burden costs to respondents ($30,000) from the previous submission,
the OMB inventory for the last approved submission mistakenly had
the cost to respondents listed as $28,846. This should have been
corrected to $30,000 much earlier, but was not noticed until
now.
